Test the shade along your jawline, rather than on your hand, in natural daylight where possible. A correct match should vanish into your neck and chest too, so check there before you choose the shade.
Matte liquid formulas can help control shine for longer because they are designed to support a smooth, long-lasting finish. Powder foundation helps too, but it is better used as a top-up than a full-coverage base for very oily skin.
Start in the center of your face and blend outward with a damp sponge or brush, working in small sections rather than one heavy layer. Building up thin layers gives more even, more natural coverage than one heavy pass.
Liquid formulas often hold up good over a full day since they bond more closely to skin, especially long-wear ones. Stick is quickly for touch-ups on the go, and powder is good for setting rather than carrying you through many hours alone.
